Introducing KubeAcademy Pro: In-Depth Kubernetes Training, Totally Free

  • 3 minute read

At VMware, we want our knowledge, and the knowledge of Kubernetes experts, to be your gain. Last August, when we launched KubeAcademy—our free, product-agnostic Kubernetes and cloud native technology education program—the reception was overwhelmingly positive, so we decided to take KubeAcademy one step further.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce KubeAcademy Pro—a free education program that grants members access to technical, in-depth, product-agnostic Kubernetes training, exclusive workshops, virtual events with community leaders, instructor-led webinars, and more.

KubeAcademy Pro connects you with industry leaders for free so you can advance your skill set regardless of where you are on your Kubernetes journey. Whether you’re a systems administrator new to Kubernetes or an operator ready to manage clusters, KubeAcademy Pro includes a breadth of courses for a wide range of roles.

KubeAcademy Pro instructors are made up of VMware Kubernetes architects, field engineers, trainers, and developer advocates who bring their experience helping customers adopt Kubernetes, as well as their own experience learning Kubernetes.

Go further with KubeAcademy Pro

KubeAcademy’s lessons run just 5-15 minutes, as they are designed for those who simply want to kick the tires on Kubernetes. But some topics cannot be done justice in under 15 minutes.

KubeAcademy Pro courses are designed for those who are ready to take their Kubernetes knowledge to the next level. Each lesson runs 15-40 minutes long, allowing instructors to dive deeply into each topic.

In addition to in-depth courses, KubeAcademy Pro members get access to interactive virtual events. KubeAcademy instructors will be hosting a series of webinars that will dive even deeper into certain course topics for which they will be taking Pro members’ questions.

To kick off the KubeAcademy Pro event calendar, Joe Beda, co-creator of Kubernetes and principal engineer at VMware, is hosting an Ask Me Anything (AMA) webinar for Pro members eager to get answers to their most burning Kubernetes questions.

Now available on KubeAcademy Pro

Starting today, the following three long-form courses are available on KubeAcademy Pro. The courses range from beginner to advanced, and one is interactive. KubeAcademy Pro’s content library will be continually evolving, with new content added regularly.

Interactive Introduction to Containers and Kubernetes

Ready to dive a little deeper into the world of Kubernetes? Get up to speed on the first principles of a cloud native infrastructure, then learn how to containerize and deploy a Kubernetes application in our lab environment. This training is designed for those who are early in their cloud native journey. If you’re involved with using or building a Kubernetes cluster, this course is for you. You will leave with more knowledge of basic concepts and greater comfort in working with containers.

Instructor: Ryan Schneider

Take the Interactive Introduction to Containers and Kubernetes course.

Operational Considerations for Virtual Infrastructure Administrators

The is an intermediate-level course designed for virtual infrastructure administrators who want to build a Kubernetes stack for development teams. The course dives into networking, storage, and security considerations, as well as access and quota management.

Instructor: Boskey Savla

Take the Operational Considerations for Virtual Infrastructure Administrators course.

Networking in Kubernetes

Pods running in a Kubernetes cluster have to be able to communicate among themselves as well as with the outside world. In this advanced-level course, we will look at the Kubernetes network model and how pods are connected to the network to satisfy it. We’ll also touch on what the Container Network Interface (CNI) is and how different CNI providers deal with implementing it.
